Pole Star Panama hosts first Latin America Distributor Conference

Distributors from five countries attended Pole Star’s first distributor conference in Panama City, Panama on October 22 - 24 2012. The conference was organised and hosted by Pole Star’s regional Latin America office.

Pole Star entered the LATAM market after merging with Panama based Absolute Maritime Tracking Services S.A. (AMTS) in October 2011. John Ramsauer, chief operating officer & director of the Panama office said, “The LATAM region, our Panama office and our growing network of distributors is of significant strategic importance for Pole Star. At what will hopefully be the first in a series of conferences, we shared with our distributors the company’s strategy to grow the business in LATAM region, and highlighted the importance of developing our commercial portfolio to meet the needs of our Latin American clients.”

The Panama office operates the world’s largest Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) data centre and supports Pole Star’s customers and partners in the region. Over the last 7 months, the Panama team has built a network of Approved Distributors throughout Latin America.

Renowned for its proactive and professional product training programme, Trainers from Pole Star’s London headquarters delivered structured sales and after-sales training sessions to delegates from across LATAM. Sales training focused on topics including: product concepts, markets and buyers, online demonstrations, features and benefits, billing mechanisms and pricing. Meanwhile, after-sales training covered such topics as: account setup, distributor responsibilities and tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 support processes. A full range of supporting collateral and documentation was provided in Spanish.

Representatives from the following distributors were present: Ulstein Belga Marine Serviços de Eletrônica Naval Ltda from Brazil, Robinson Marine Electronics SA from Chile, Telecomunicaciones y Proyectos en Tecnologias de la Informacion SA de CV from Mexico, Shipping Radio & Management Intl. Inc. from Panama and Reset Electronica y Sistemas SRL from Peru.

In addition to training, Pole Star also gave a preview presentation of its new products and services that will be launched next year, hosted a dinner that took place in the Panama City old town (Casco Viejo) and provided a tour of the Panama Canal and the Panama LRIT Data Centre.

“We would like to thank all our distributors, trainers and staff from Pole Star HQ, and all our Panamanian collaborators that worked together to make the first distributor conference a success,” said Duncan Halliday, head of distribution at Pole Star. “We are confident that our strong presence in the LATAM market will generate value for both our customers and our distribution partners.”
